what type of skimmer can you use in a system with no sump i know the hob but is it possible to use a inline style or not

yes there are external skimmers that drains from your tank into the skimmer then you can pump it back into your tank

there some good solid HOT skimmers on the market now. Look at deltec mec600, bermuda rouge wave, or the aqua medic turbo flotor 1000 multi or the 3000 blue. No real flood potential if tuned correctly which is easy on all models. Bremuda puts the water back into the unit. There is a good thread running right now on RC for the bermuda rouge wave.

External skimmers & HOT skimmers always a bit of a flood risk although the better models are a little safer. I have a Deltec 600mce and it's a very solid skimmer but pricey.

Hi, I highly recommend the deltec mce600. great skimmer. pricey though. the bermuda rouge is getting rave reviews on reef central.
