Can anyone give me an idea on why green hair algae is growing in my tank? i mean i do 50% water change about every week and a half, and I tried leaving the light off for days at a time to discourage the light needed for algae growth. Can someone help me and let me know what i'm doing wrong? its a real nuisance!!! thanks any input is appreciated

Green algae = high nutrients and probably low flow. ^^ are you using rodi? Check your phosphate/nitrate/silicate levels.

i have a mini-reef 20g, just started the hobby June 07... i want to go bigger already though. and if i'm correct i think i'm not using a RO/DI unit, i just get my water from a LFS which claims to be the best since he spent thousands on his filtering system.
