scrips water smell funny

I picked up 5 gals of scrips water from a pet store in my area yesterday. Im about to do a water change and i noticed that the water smells alitte bit like sulfer. Is this normal or is this water contaminated? I tested the water and everything is normal except for the Ph which is low(7.8). What should i do?

How long did they had it might be dead bacteria/micro organizm try airating it

yeah, it shouldn't stink. probably some microorganisms died from stale storage. throw a power head in it and airate it like jojo said.

Pardon my ignorance....what is Scrips water? Is this different from RO/DI water?

Scripps water comes from the Scripps Pier right below the Birch Aquarium in San Diego. It is run through their sand filters (same water the aquarium uses) and there is a public access at the pier to get free filtered ocean water. :top:

Thanks for enlightening me....Seen some LFS that sells the scrips water.
Guess they wanna get paid for their efforts......

yea, it isn't so free when it has to be trucked up from San Diego. Where ever you got the water from, they might have put some Seachem Prime in it, to lower Ammonia. it has a nasty sulfur smell, but it works great. I always add a little to my Top-off

Well i did a partial water change and now i am noticing a bit a green algea on the glass. Tomorrow im going to get some other water and do a bigger water change.
