I want to add the shimmer effect without breaking the bank. Seems the wattage per gallon has gone by the wayside and even more so with LEDs. I currently run five T5s on my 90 gallon. Why five and not six? nThat's what fits in my canopy with a SeaSwirl in there. My plan was to get a cheaper fixture like Double Bright or MarineLand(new $100 on Ebay) and remove two of my T5s in the middle. Those two fixtures are both 54 watts. Is that like the equivilent of two T5s?
Also my hood is only eight inches off the water. Another reason I like the slim ones.
If you're going to mention AI and IO or anyother high end product. Save your time. Just want ideas on if this would work for my zoa/mushroom tank.

LOL I started the same thread a couple weeks trying to figure it out. Does it make a difference if the LEDs are blue or white? I might buy one from the link you posted Shaun.

What's a good ratio of blue and white? I was planning on keeping a couple of my T5s as well.
I want to keep my existing hood but it seems people are reading right pass that part of my thread. Here is another fixture with the same ratio. http://www.ebay.com/itm/110963328549?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Seems to be the trend. This fixture is actually is 4 inches narrower(half the wattage) than the last one in my post making it so I can keep three of the T5s instead of just one or two of which I'd run blues in them.
I really dig on Aquatic lifes 47 inch pro series. But at a thousand bones. Will never make it through my front door.
