Hey Everyone.

As I've researched skimmers, I have come across several that have an external pump and piping with a gate valve. I've watched several videos of them on YouTube and noticed that they all have water flowing through the gate valve adding to splashing and noise within the sump.

Is there any reason that an elbow can't be placed on these to direct the flow of water below the water line? I can't imagine a reason why they couldn't, but I've never used a full size skimmer before so my knowledge is limited.

Thanks for you input! It is truly appreciated.

An elbow straight to the water puts too much back pressure on the pump causing the skimmer not to skim properly. If for any reason it would fall off it will overflow your skimmer

I cut a hole on a elbow and its super loud
I been wanting to change it to a Tee I'm
Sure it'll make a difference
