LIMESTRO's The Frugal Reefer: Vol. 1 - Straight to Square pin Conversion for PC Lights.

Disclaimer: Mod at your own risk. :D

Your going to need the following:
-Scissors
-Screwdriver
-Twisty Ties or Tie Wrap (securing the wires and insulation)
-Air line Tubing (insulation)

This mod will show you how to modify your Straight Pin Power compact setup to accept a Square Pin power compact lightbulb. So the scenerio is, you are in dire need of a hospital tank and with haste you purchase a bulb without reading the fine print. You missed one important detail, its the wrong pin setup. Ooops. If returning the bulb is not an option then this is the MOD for you.

Uh-oh! What do I do now? No worries, just keep reading and we will find a fix for this problem.

First grab a screw driver to unfasten the screws and expose the pins. Notice that the pins are colored coated and paired up. Pay close attention to the colors and pairing this will be important when wiring them to the bulb.

Uh-oh! x 2 I don't have a square pin endcap to convert them pins to. Its okay we can improvise. Grab some air line tubing. We can use this for insulation. To prevent the pin/exposed contacts from getting wet or touching each other.

Cut them in to about 2.5-3 cm in length. Make four pieces, one for each pin. These will serve as makeshift insulation. Make sure they are dry. Water and electricity is no good. :D

Now that we have the insulation, slowly bend the pins to straighten them out. Do this very carefully as to not snap the pins off and end up destroying them. They don't have to be perfect, just flush enough to slide the tubing through. Once you've done that you can connect them to the pins of the light bulb. You want to connect the paired wires on the top pairs of the bulb.

It doesn't matter which top pairs is which you are going to flip it over and do the same for the other paired wire as seen in this next picture. Make sure you match the coloration of the wires per a side. So in this picture the Red stripped wires are in the foreground and the White wires are in the background.

Now grab a twisty tie (found with the cheapo garbage bags) or a tie wrap to aide in securing the insulation tubes.

Secure the bundled insulation by wrapping the tie around the bunch. Don't tie it too tight, you do plan on replacing the bulb later on in the future...right?

Then trim the leftover to clean up the job.

Mount and secure the power compact bulb snug into the fixture.

Voila! Test the bulb...Success!

Congrats! You have now converted the straight pin fixture setup to a square pin setup. Have fun.
