Today:

I've been postponing this for a while, but in order for my 150g to cycle properly, I felt I needed to get some proper liverock in there to help speed things up (I've noticed my nitrite was a little on the high side on the new tank, which bothered me considering it needs to be at zero). So I disassembled my rockscape and put about 100lbs of aged liverock in there. Too early for coral...the good stuff anyway...so I took all my zoos and softies and put them in the 28g to chill until I'm ready to decorate the new tank. My sps has been kept in the 70g just as a safety precaution. Params are good, so it seems like the best place for them to remain until the big move.

Wow looked very nice, hope your new tank looks just as good. Looks like an oceanic tank? I have the same one.

Wow that must have been a lot of work. Do you have to be concerned about removing all the biological filtration that the rock was providing or does the sand provide sufficient bacteria and filtration. As much as I understand, I dont really know where the bacteria thrive or where the food source really is.

Not worried about removing the liverock with regard to filtration. There's still enough in there in addition to the sump. The sand is the only thing I'm a little worried about. I kicked up a lot of dust on e the sand underneath the rock was exposed. I'm making water right now, though. Tomorrow I'll siphon out the sand and I'll be good to go. I'm actually going to take about 20lbs of my old sand and put it in the new tank.

Thanks. The new tank will be bad to the bone...just might take me a year to get there.
