Should I go with a JBJ ATO or Eshopps Float Auto Top of? Also if I decide or am persuaded to go with with a float switch where can I get a container ready for this type of gravity fed ATO
There's a price difference what is most reliable?

Ive had both and liked the JBJ ato with an aqualifter pump. The float type is ok but if a snail decides to hang out on the float you'll empty the top off container.

I was using an 18 gallon rubbermaid container. I picked up an AA 8 gallon container at RAP last year and have been using that. Almost any container will work as long as it holds water
