Just picked up this 66g tank. I found a great deal on a mh 250w set up. Looking to keep a mix reef with clam, sps, lps and a few zoanthids , ricordia. I'm just curious if this light is going to be over kill? Do you think the spread would be enough to get away with 1 fixture 10-12" off water surface?

I'm thinking of supplementing with leds for a sunrise sunset effect. Any suggestions on decently priced leds. Has anyone tried those bridgelux dimmable Chinese made leds?

Thanks.

I think you made a double post, but I tried answering your question in the other thread.

In sum, it might be enough, but you'll need to raise it depending on your reflector.

I have a single 250 mh over a 36x24x12 about 12-14" above the water. Sps love it but it's a little much for some lps but since yours is 20" high you'll be good. Also mine is a bit shaded on the sides but since yours is 32 I think it's perfect. :)

That's great to know. Sounds like this should work out well.

That reflector isn't enough for that tank

Get a large lumenarc and call it a day I had one on my 140 and single 250 watts was enough. I prefer elites too but I still don't think its enough for this tank dimension.
