Just wondering what the spread is on these guys. I'd like to keep the light within 10-12 inches of the waters surface. I do have some SPS dead center.

Also, why do I always see them mounted perpendicular to the length of the tank? And is the reef link a must to control this light properly?

At about 12" above water with stock lenses I believe spread is 30 x 30. If memory serves me correctly mounting at the minimum of 9" above water yields 24 x 24 spread.

Reeflink isn't a must unless you like fussing with lights frequently. I just used the USB and login to Ecosmart as needed.

As for mounting options I think it's a matter of how tank is scaped.

2 radions would do the trick. You don't need a reef link but it makes it easier to control the lights...

Nice! Didn't even think of the t5 supplementation. Wonder how I could make that look clean without a hood?
Anyone here run that setup? Radion +t5 that is.

Get a 24" used fixture. At least 6 bulb and gut the middle to put radions. Here's mine however my fixture was only 6 bulbs and I'm running 4 t5s. That's why I couldn't get the bulbs flush within the fixture. uploadfromtaptalk1412863480665.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1412863490309.jpg

Ahh I see. That's badass! I could probably just gut the halide out of my combo fixture. I'll have to pull a few measurements.
