I've been using the small size cubes in my mixed reef biocube setup for a few months now and it seems to be working really well. Simple design, but some cubes do seem to dissolve quicker than others. Not sure why this happens but the simplicity of the slow release design is very nice.

How many cubes do you put and do you do additional dosing?

It is on a 14 gallon biocube and I normally use one of the small cubes each month. No additional dosing except for red sea no pox formula(which works awesome but needs to be monitored closely IMO). The key is monitoring how quickly its is being released and then make sure it correlates with your tanks demands. I've found that at times, depending on livestock demands, some levels such as calcium can get rather high.
