My ONLY skimmer is out on my 300 gallon reef and I need this pump like yesterday, or if anyone knows of a pump i can replace it with. I need a Askool 1500 pump for my SWC skimmer ASAP! I think its the SWC 300skimmer. Please help if you have any ideas or info. the pump input hole on the skimmer size is 1-1/4 smoth non-threaded, if anyone knows of a pin wheel pump that might be a good replacement please let me know.

Thanks a bunch guys!

If u need one ASAP, check if there's any fish pond stores around u. Most of them stock Laguna max flow pumps. Just get a 1500. Unless the magnet is swollen, then you will need a whole new impeller.

If your not in that big of a hurry, check Ebay. They have the best prices

no i cleaned it out, everything looks fine. its been running for over 5 years. with normal cleanings of course. i pulled and cleaned it and when i plug it in it runs for about 5 seconds and slow stops. it spins freelly.i think the motor is just worn out. would it cease up if the magnet is swollen? what would indicate a swollen magnet?i found the right replacment pump, the laguna 1350 pond pump on amazon for $120.

Left is good magnet, right is swollen/cracked magnet

More then likely its the motor block. Those were the exact same symptoms I was having. Changed the motor block to a Laguna 1500 and been running fine again.

oh wow. ive never seen that before. My magnet is good. I got the new motor in. the 1350, and it dosent have enough power i think. I have the SWC 300A. its a big skimmer, good for 300 to 550 gallon tank.I put the new motor in, runs great, but as soon as I adjust the foam up to the neck of the skimmer the foam turns to water, it stops making bubbles and water is going back into the air feed line. As if it dosent have enough head preassure.I cant think of anything else. So I think i need to get a completely different skimmer pump now. Maybe the Bubble Blaster HY5000S.

Does Laguna not sell the 1500 any more? Seems like That's the pump Chris used to replace his motor block

Increase the water level in the sump if you are having issues with head pressure. Also might help to take out the little pvc reducer in the input of the skimmer body.
