So I'm researching some of the pumps for the small cube I'm working on and ran across these Sicce Syncra DW or Dirty Water pumps. I compared them to the usual Sicce Syncra pump and noticed the specs are almost identical. The biggest difference is that the Dirty Water pumps uses a lot less power than the typical Sicce Syncra pumps. For example, the Sicce SyncraDW 3.5 Dirty Water Pump uses only 24W vs 68W for the Sicce Syncra Silent 3.5 Pump.
Has anyone tried the DW pump as a return pump before? Just curious to see if these are safe to use in a reef tank. Not sure why they would give it a name with such a negative connotation like "Dirty Water" but if it's reef safe then I would totally use it for just the power saving while getting the same performance as the other pump.
