The most common reccomended method is to superglue or put reef epoxy on them..
the boiling water method is to literally boil the rock. Or put it in a garbage bag in you yard and cook it. Check out reef2reef. Ig got my answer there when i had them.
i have some now but they havent spread. Not all hydroids are bad or willntake over a tank.

thanks for the input. mine didn't end up dying with the boiling water in a baster trick. just seemed to upset them for like a week. maybe 1 died... i tried boiling lemon water and that didn't seem to do anything except kill off an isopod that was nearby.

i think epoxy might be the solution. they haven't really spread too much in my tank. i notice like 3 more and that's it since i first posted. there are other things on my rock, but at least i know what those are and they aren't issues. this i was worried about spreading...
