Over flow

I have a hole drilled in overflow but sucking a lot of air. Tried putting small sir valve in hole but doesn't work. Any suggestions?

It's gonna suck air no matter what. Your best bet is to throttle back your pump with a valve and live with it.

Or, rebuild the drain with a full siphon (Herbie, Beananimal) design.
