People on RC have registered complaints about it. The fact that it leeches heavy metal is the only reason I feel is necessary to avoid it.

Randy Holmes-Farley testing -- Aluminum testing based on average leeched from Marine Pure, response at RC.

"The aluminum released from aluminum oxide binders has been known to cause problems, and I personally added aluminum to a test tank in an amount similar to what some people are getting (and what I saw released from Phosguard) and did see problems with several types of corals."

I run Marinepure also. They also have threads about the Brute trashcan leeching something but going about 3 years on my brute.

I currently run phosguard with great phosphate reduction however is there in aluminum test kit out there that's fairly inexpensive?
Also, I've had pretty good luck growing SPS in the past running phosguard

Do you run phosguard in a reactor?

Yes, I don't run it 24 hours a day I basically turn it on when I have to start cleaning algae off the glass more frequently

How long do you run it for? You think I could put phosguard and bio pellets in same reactor?

I would not recommend you run bio pellets and phosguard in the same reactor.
Bio pellets need high flow and need to turn in tumble, phosguard is intended to be a phosphate binder, low flow and not tumble at all, phosguard spheres are brittle and if you tumble them they will disintegrate in the powder and will go into your display tank. That's not something you would want. When you first get phosguard you have to rinse them off really well of all the manufacturing powder.
