Currently deciding between a SCA 66g or 80g. Dims are 66g 32x24x20 80g 32x24x24.
SCA doesnt have the 66 in stock but offered the 80 at the same price. New 80g tank and sump (I looking into a metal stand made) is $700 picked up. I found a used 66g and sump for $300.

For Lighting I plan on using a Hydra 52HD.

What would you do? bigger new tank or smaller used tank ? your opinions are welcome

get the biggest tank you can afford... very simple man...

in my experience, i find that anything under a hundred, but more than 75g is a good size... my best tank was a 90g.. and right now i have a 50 cube, and i hate it... i'm going to get another 90 later on...

75 would be nice. hopefully Steven will give me that at the 66g price.
What if I scape the 80 with a drop off like to 'abyss' tanks

Im going to go see him tomorrow.
For the 80 , he said the tank already has 3 holes drilled and fittings are all standard, not metric

I'd go with the 75. Looks like it has a longer footprint. It all depends on how you like to scape your tank though. I had a 66 and struggled with the footprint. The 80 is the same just taller.

Picked up the 75g yesterday with a massive sump and skimmer. Buying all my plumbing from BRS, NOW deciding on the stand.
I dont want to spend another $900 for a custom stand from Willie :afraid:

Nice! Congrats on the new pickup.

There's a guy by the name of Val in Westminster that builds custom stand. My 100g stand was built by him. A basic design and I opted to stain it myself. I belive it cost me right about $300. Maybe slightly over, I made a few small changes to the way the base was done to support shims better. My floors way uneven.

Good work though.

Stand is going to powder coaters today.
I had the stand made to my specs 36x36x36 for more space , the plate in the middle will support the Hyrda stand. Probably rotate the sump front to back so I can have my electronics on the right side
