I am hoping to get a Red Sea Nano and I would like to get a XR15, this tank is 18'' square I believe. Hopefully Macna will work out.

I'm running my XR15g3 with wide optics @ 18k spectrum (100% UV/RB/B -- 25% W/R/G), 65% intensity, and added 2x24 ATI Coral+ Blue+ and everything is loving it. (SPS Biocube).

Gotta say, the SPS all responded to the T5 immediately. I'll either add another 2x25 or replace the Radion with an ATI 4-6x24. I love the Radion and I'm sure the G4 is better, but w/e makes my tank happier is the priority.

It's unfortunate that you have to add T5s to some of the most expensive LEDs out there to get better results.

My issue with my XR15 is the hot spots and the shadowing. I am very limited to where I can place SPS in my tank, I don't know but I think I'm done with LEDS and going back to good ole' T5 lighting.

Yes, and no. It seems to just be the name of the game with reefing. It's like our systems can only offer so much to an organism that technically could continue growing for 10's of years.

I'm starting to see reefing like weight loss. In weight loss eventually you're gonna plateau, and sometimes the only way to push through is to kick it up a notch.. Just the other day I read a thread where someone was using T5 and added 250 Radium, after no results they switched up to a 400w Radium and their SPS exploded with growth immediately. I think LED's are great, but overall there's a piece of the puzzle missing in them still, and likewise in some way MH outshine T5.

IMHO a single Radion XR15 is good for no more than a ln 18x18 area. If you want good coverage you need a xr30 every 24" of tank
