Cycling with shrimp and live rock

Cycling with live rock and a piece of shrimp. How long do you leave the raw shrimp in the tank? Going on 4 days and looks pretty fungi.

Need to check for ammonia. Also are those rock from an previous tank and never left out of the water too long?

No ammonia after a week. Got the rock from tanks at Reef Lounge USA. Was out of water about 30 min. Rock is pretty bare so don't think there was a lot of die off. Seems cycled to me. Checking ammonia, nitrite and nitrate with Red Sea marine care test kit. I know it's possible it won't cycle though just running the course. Opinions welcome

Yea, you might not get a cycle or just a mini cycle at best since you got established rocks.

Adding some pukani from BRS that should be here today. I'll probably go through some cycling after that so I'll wait and see. Quarantine tank is still cycling too so still waiting. That's the hardest part.

Waiting is definitely the toughest part in this hobby. In the mean time, pull out the flash light at night and see if there are any cool critters lurking. Also nice to see your pod population grow on a daily basis.
