Hey everyone, just curious here. Has anyone successfully kept and grown acropora in say a 10 gal before? I've been wanting to add one or two frags to my own tank that currently has mostly zoas.

I had some easy stuff in an 8 gal all in one. Look for someone selling frags of the classics like green slimer, red planet or strawberry shortcake. If they've been in their tank for a few years they tend to be more hardy.

Digitata, monitpora and millepora might be good choices as well since they tend to handle dirtier water well.

Very doable but very challenging as the less water volume the more the tank will fluctuate. One way to cheat that is connect your nano to a larger volume system. I would try the hardier sps as some one mention but honestly I would only keep soft corals in a nano. hth

I agree with water volume making it a challenge. I just saw this red planet frag and really got an itch to try it in my system. I only change about 2.5 gallons every week and that seems to keep my nitrates and phosphates low. I've thought about getting a doser when i set the system up but that was before I decides to do zoas. Seeing some of sps in these tanks here really pushed me along to try a frag.

If you're only adding 1 or 2 small frags, it should be fine with some water changes. Start with some easy ones like montipora. They won't use up as much calcium until they get larger. Then start upgrading with some manual dosing if you need to.

I used to have a 15g in the 90', more of a mixed reef. I currently have a 22g full of sps, it's not a 10g, but small.

Got these in the mail today so lets see how this goes.
These should be a red planet and sunset milli. I have no clue what the third one is, it was given as a freebie with the order.
