Now that i have your attention... How high should I put my 8 bulb ATI over my 50 gallon tank? I am not sure if I have it too low, and the corals are getting too much light. My new clam is gaping and I don't know if it is caused by the light or high mag...

Parameters:
Alk- 8.3 (stable on doser)
Ca- 420
Mag-1500 (high from trying to get it back up)
Phosphate- .05
Nitrate- 5 ppm

I have a 60 cube with the same light setup. I have mine bout a foot off the water. I did have it at one or another 8" off the water and my coral did not like it at all.

This is hard to say. It depends entirely on the depth of your tank and the type of corals that you have.

Best advice would be to start higher around 12" and work your way down. Better yet...borrow a PAR meter and adjust accordingly.
