Do you have any idea what spectrum the bulb is ? See if you can find the make or whatever serial number of the bulb so we can search for some specs on it

I dont know about this one, but i have a lights of america mini flood from depot that is 65 watts that is 6500 kelvin, but its about mid twenties price wise

Halogen's are gonna put off some serious heat too......................not to mention I'm almost sure that the bulb is the wrong spectrum.........

already reurned it and didnt get to look at the spectrum...used the costco light of america for 9.00 bucks also..i turned it on and it was pretty bright.

the costco light is the right spectrum and many many reefers (me included) have had excellent results grwoing macro (chaeto) with it.

i would recommend drilling some holes in the ballast and bulb area to vent the heat generated...carefully...otherwise, the excess heat will greatly shorten the ballast and bulb life.

if you need to see the holes drilled...swing by my place...again! :D:D:D
