I currently have an radion xr30w pro gen 4 over a cadlight versa 10" above (30" x 18" x 18") my 42g. I'm wondering if I should add an xr15 pro gen 4 or if the light I currently have is enough for this tank. I run the light at 60%

You have more light then you need. Xr30 has an approx. 24" light spread, given your tank is only 30x18. Unless you planning on, scaping glass to glass. Evn then you still have plenty of coverage. Save your money for fancy over priced corals..

I wish I had a par reading machine. I wonder what kind of par I'm getting.

Then if ur worried about not enough par (which i agree with james u have more than enough) then place ur sps towards the center of the tank and lps and softies towards the bottom corners.

Would increasing intensity give me more par.? Correct me if I'm wrong but It would probably be to hot in the center huh?

I'm gonna go full sps in a few months tho.

Be very careful, many people have completely obliterated their sps Because they thought their radions or leds in general werent putting out enough light. The light these leds put out is very deceiving so start low and slowly ramp them up.

Im confused now. From your initial question (unless I misunderstood it), it look as if you were wondering if your xr30 is enough coverage for your 42g Versa and if you should add a xr15 to the mix.

As for PAR, the specs on the xr304g is amazing. So I don't believe you would have a problem keeping sps. Most LED have the greatest par rating at the center and gradually decre9as away from the center. Your tank is narrow and not that much longer in terms of the coverage of a 24x24 spread that the xr30 is rated. So I think you are good in both coverage and part . As reef god Tangwich, mentioned just have your coral placed closer the center than move out with less light demanding corals. However, theres more to keeping Sps then just light. Its a hodgepodge of things to keep inline and anything can go wrong..

According the Ecotech, the G4 optics spread the lights more evenly so won't get that much center hot spot like the G3
