I just hooked up a CSS to test and the output "burps water"

What do I need to do to eliminate the burping?

I do not know much about skimmers as this is my first attempt with an in sump skimmer.

So I looked at the airline tubing (venturi) that goes to the PH and it has water that backs into it like there is not enough suction to keep air constant.

Is that normal?
Can I prevent that?

is the output submerged? i think it needs to be above the water line.
ABSOLUTELY must be above the water line! When I was on vacation last month, the float switch in my skimmate reservoir did exactly what it was supposed to do...it shut off the skimmer. However the venturi tube was perhaps 2" at most below the water line of the sump. A siphon developed and water simply drained out of the sump until the water level dropped to that point. Twasn't a pretty sight that one. water everywhere...tripped my GFI, etc, etc. Thank Gosh I had a tank sitter to catch the error in time.

It was because the pump needed to have the strainer part on the end. Without the strainer it was sucking too much water causing the venturi to "breath" causing burping action.
