So yea i guess this is a thing now, I came home from work to find my clam closed sshut crushing my filefish. Guessing the filefish tried to eat it and the clam had the last laugh

Then I went to pull him out and I think I may have injured the clam cuz now it looks like it

I would have left it alone. Like pulling your hand out of a dog or crocs mouth without opening it first. Result is more damage.

Unfortunate, things like this have caused many sources to list tridacnid clams as "semi-aggressive", which they aren't in the traditional sense but are dangerous to slow moving fishes. I've seen seahorses meet their end this way but that's the first filefish I can remember.
