Default Went out to the ocean for the first time since having a reef tank, today

And i was struck with a curiosity.

Does anyone ever take inverts from the ocean and put them in their tank? Obviously a quarantine would be wise for anything, but as a kid, i used to catch sand crabs all the time, but never thought about taking them home until today.

Of course, i caught some clams, some crabs of all kinds, muscles. I didn't take anything home, because i dont have an extra tank setup, but i would definitely like to sometime in the future.

Others have done so with mole crabs if you google it on the other forums. Seems there wasn't any success as the mole crabs depend on filter feeding through the turbulence from waves. Wound up all dying within weeks from starvation.

Most thing in local water will not survive in our tanks as they prefer cooler water. That is why most turbo snails dont last long. They have ahard time adjusting to temps as high as 78 and above.
