Alright, I need your help and opinions. I just bought a 225g tank thats 72 long. Im a t5 guy and was planning on running those on this tank with led supplement. Its hard to find 72 long t5 setups. Should I go two 36 long lights? Or would it look weird if I went 48 and 24 based upon getting a good deal on fixture? Also, if I run the same types of bulbs in each fixture but have different brands of fixtures would that make a difference also? Thank you!

Its probably cheaper to get 1 big fixture, and only replace the bulbs on that single fixture when it comes time to replace bulbs, instead of multiple for different fixture. T5 led combo is a great set up IMO.

For a 6' tank. I'd spring for a ATI 60" fixture. It will get you all the light needed to cover the 6' lenth. Plus nearly half the annual costs when it comes to replacing the bulbs of 2 - 36" fixtures.

If it comes down to having to use 2 fixtures you need to have them the same length cause the bulb wattage are different so the light output will be different. 48" will be 54w while 24" is only 24w and will be dimmer.

I was wondering if a quality 60 would provide enough coverage for the tank when growing mostly sps. You answered that. Ill see if I can find a 60 power module then, or just a regular t5 setup and add some led strips.

Yeah after posting this question I went looking to see if I could find a 48 and 24 with the same wattage and I couldnt. So that option is out.

Im not so sure the output is different on the 2 fixtures. It will take 2x more watts to get the same output out of a 4 foot bulb than a 2 foot. Because its half the length. Directly under the middle of both fixtures will be similar outputs.

I plan on using (2) 8x24w ati sunpowers (bulbs perpendicular to the long side of the tank) and (3) radions on my new 220g.
