Get this: http://www.socalireefs.com/forums/showthread.php?77033-FS-48-quot-6-Lamp-ATI-Powermodule

And then check out this:

Here's a some of our customer's favorite combinations. We have found most folks prefer a bluer look to their tank as it helps to bring our more colors in their corals. Please remember that bulb choice is ultimately a matter of personal preference and what works for one, may not work for another.

16K - 20K - Bluish white with a noticable blue and red under-tone
4-Bulb combination

3 ATI Blue Plus
1 ATI Purple Plus

6-Bulb combination

4 ATI Blue Plus
1 ATI Coral Plus
1 ATI Purple Plus

8-Bulb combination

5 ATI Blue Plus
2 ATI Coral Plus
1 ATI Purple Plus

10-Bulb combination

3 ATI Coral Plus
1 ATI Purple Plus

4-Bulb combination

2 ATI Blue Plus
2 ATI Coral Plus

6-Bulb combination

3 ATI Blue Plus
2 ATI Coral Plus
1 ATI Purple Plus

8-Bulb combination

4 ATI Blue Plus
3 ATI Coral Plus
1 ATI Purple Plus

10-Bulb combination

5 ATI Blue Plus
4 ATI Coral Plus
1 ATI Purple Plus

10K - 14K - Crisp white with just a hint of blue
4-Bulb combination

Makes better sense to get a nice 6 or 8 bulb fixture with good ballasts and reflectors than running 12 bulbs with crappy ballasts and crappy reflectors. Bulbs last a lot longer in a fixture like an ATI that has program start ballasts. I also think a 6 bulb ATI Powermodule or Sunpower would actually beat 12 bulbs of light from inferior fixtures.

Being a new reefer this thread is awesome to me, since i have no idea what the combos are, im kinda looking for something close to this:

http://www.thatsnerdalicious.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/o1.jpg

would this fall under the "10K - 14K - Crisp white with just a hint of blue"?

i'll be looking to get a 8bulb ati sunpower and combination from the above posts states:
8-Bulb combination

4 ATI Blue Plus
2 ATI Aquablue Special
2 ATI Purple Plus

in which order would i put them in? Thanks guys.

To me that looks like it would probably be something around 16K.

For the bulbs you mentioned for the 10-14K I would spread it like this to get a spread out coverage:
1. Blue +
2. Purple +
3. Blue +
4. Aquablue special
5. Purple +
6. Blue +
7. Aqua blue special
8. Blue +

or

1. Blue +
2. Purple +
3. Aquablue special
4. Blue +
5. Blue +
6. Aquablue special
7. Purple +
8. Blue +

or

1. Purple +
2. Blue +
3. Aquablue special
4. Blue +
5. Blue +
6. Aquablue special
7. Blue +
8. Purple +

Sometimes you gotta play around with the combo to get something you like because the bulb order can make a big difference in how the coral look if the bulbs aren't spread out evenly. I bet each one of these combos will look slightly different. I like the third combo best.

I think you would like this more if you looking to achieve that picture:

1. Blue +
2. Coral +
3. Blue +
4. Purple +
5. Coral +
6. Blue +
7. Coral +
8. Blue +
