Hey nick here's a what if. What if, good forbid your girl buys a new air freshener and uses it a few minutes before your skimmer cup drains. Your BK goes nuts a over fills your cup and your drain solenoid turns opens up and u start draining your tank. Then your auto top off kicks on and starts dumping fresh water into your tank. Then u get home to a brackish tank filled with dead corals and fish.

We all know if something bad is going to happen it's going to happen at the worse time. That's just this hobby.
That's a great "what if". Always good to think outside the box.

My Tank Build
Nick u should put 3/8 or 1/2" for the skimmer drain. That would totally suck of the line got clogged with detritus and u had to blow the line out. With 1/2" u would have more then enough room so the line doesn't get clogged. I'm thinking someone will b tasting fish poo soon.

Ran the wires and all the lines out to my shed. Also hooked up my eb8. Works great, can drain my skimmer collection cup with a push of a button. Love technology!

Sweet stuff! How is that aoa Triton doing? Is it still hanging onto the strong yellow color after having for a month?

Can you explain the draining your skimmer cup a bit more? Is there a pump in the collection cup?
It drains by gravity. My house is a bit higher then my side yard. I have a 120v solenoid in my shed connected to my apex. I turn on the solenoid, and the skimmate drains out to my side yard and into a drain that goes out to the street. It works awesome! Been using it all week. Bought a new Wienerschnitzel, so I've been working open to close every day. No time to deal with emptying skimmate. Luckily my fianc is into it, so she feeds the fish and makes sure everything is going good.

My tank is looking so fresh right now.

I do A TON of maintenance to get this tank to look this way...
1)Feed my fish
2) drain my skimmer cup
3) clean my glass

And that's it. Hahaha. This tank is literally on cruise control. I don't touch it, and everything just grows and colors are looking insane on these acros!!!
