I've had some reef flux from MarineDepot since before my tank transfer. It was popping up pretty bad in my 180g at one point, but then suddenly just died off when my nutrients got to a certain point and I never used it.

I can see its really popping up in this system. Still very small patches but spread throughout the tank. I'd like to nip it in the butt early but hesitant at this point. My tanks running much lower nutrients so far which in my experience makes acros more sensitive.

Anyone dose this stuff in their sps dominant tanks? Any ill effects on shrimps or anything else? To fuge or not to fuge during treatment?

Thanks,

Matt

Drop your feeding and use gfo. It will not grow if it can feed on stuff. Manually remove what you can
That's tough with anthias, I could run GFO but I'm currently 2 ppm nitrate and .02 phosphate. I am feeding alot for the anthias so that is where it's probably coming from

not really, fish stomachs are very small. Size of their eye balls. That's a couple of pellets.
I hear ya but there is a tang, 2 wrasse and a bangaii in there to compete with. I'm not sure they all do pellets either. I've never been a clean feeder like that I'm rods, lrs ect multiple times a day. Part of the reason I'm interested in giving the reefflux a go is because I like where the nutrients and overall balance and health of the tank is at currently. I just want the bryopsis knocked back enough for my chaeto to take over/out compete it before it becomes a major issue.

I'll continue to manually remove it while siphoning for now.

What tangs did you have in your old tank that you got rid of after the transfer? Maybe one of them was eating it and preventing it from growing in your old tank.

Possibly. I added all my fish in the beginning for the most part so it seems like it would have never popped up but maybe one developed a taste for it.
Naso, hippo and purple were the last to go. There was a scopas , mimic and Tomini in there before as well. All were rehomed .

So it was popping up even when all the tangs were initially in the new tank?

If it only popped up after you rehomed a certain batch, then that could help you figure out which one it was.

It was present with all tangs and disappeared before I sold off the last trio. Something had to have outcompeted it I just don’t recall anything changing but my memory is pretty sh**
