I have never fed phypo or oyster feast but I am going to try it now.. I think i had so much success with sps in my old tank because it was heavily stocked and had been established for a few years before adding sps. It’s a bit puzzling and discouraging to me on why some of my sps are doing ok, and others are a total flop.. do you spot feed these with the pumps off, or just dump it into the flow? Does Eve have a sale thread on his phyto?
Sounds like next month ill be in OC for work a lot so I‘ll shoot you a pm for a doomsday, maleficent and Oregon tort pack
I broadcast feed at night. I pour about 4oz of phyto into the wave maker and a decent squirt of oyster feast. Then I have a feed mode set to kill all pumps and return for 10 minutes, skimmer for 30.

If i was going to pick one, I'd start with the live phytoplankton. That way you could evaluate how that effects your system alone. I know corals consume it since I started getting feeding responses throughout the tank.

Eve is member @OGFrenchHorn. Last I spoke to him it sounded like he may be harvesting soon. I believe it is 3 or 4 different strains of phytoplankton living in it. He can probably text you a microscopic video, it's insane how much life is in his mix.

Anytime I click on your thread … I have to be sure some napkins are near by to wipe up my drool.

Seriously tank is gorgeous, I often use it as an example to my non reefing friends to get them excited.
Thanks for the kind words! It's doing pretty darn good right now.

Thanks again. I’m going to give it a shot.

Dang that sucks about the chaoti

those and the lennardi just seem super difficult to keep even if they’re eating and doing well. I think I recall evolved mentioning they might be sensitive to alk swings of all things

Yea it is a major bummer. It seems like anytime I buy a dream fish I don't get to enjoy it long. Super male rhomboid, lineatus and now this guy.

I got jumpy and went for him before I should have. He found his sand but who knows, maybe it was too shallow and he cracked himself or it was my evil Tomini? I'm leaning towards the tomini tang. He great white shark attacks fish from below and I've see him send a couple fish into the lid and overflow. That combined with feeding flakes they were all at the surface eating, so pretty likely I think. I got a feeling the cause of death was impact related for sure regardless

Yup, my phytoplankton is a mixture of 4 strains and it’s really dark. I’ve been culturing since February. I get about 3 to 4 gallons a week. I started shipping not to long ago.

It’s made a huge difference in my tank since I’ve started dosing it.

Jeeze. If you ever want to find out how hard your tangs and cuc work in your display, start a frag section in your sump!

I'm running out of room for a decent sized frag rack in my tank. There is nowhere I can really put it without shading something so I've taken one of the kessil 360s I plan to use for supplementation on my next build and converted the first chamber to a frag section. I cut up the AA lid that i had to cut out and it worked pretty perfect for a frag rack section. My problem is now, algae. I'm only a week in and there is a lot of brownish film, I'm guessing the beginning of GHA growing on the acrylic rack. I've added 6 trochus snails but I'm thinking a tiny lawn mower or starry blenny may be needed for this to be successful. I'm running it offset from my display lighting to help with heat during the day. So far the pieces look pretty good under the kessil, I've got the nobs at 50/50 and thats pretty damn white which is nice. Polyps out, hopefully they stay happy.

Overall my consumption has increased a ton. At first I thought maybe I needed to calibrate my probe but I can literally see growth weekly now. I'll look at something and think "I have a few weeks before thats and issue" and next thing I know, its almost touching. Everything but tenuis are cranking right now, can't quite figure that out.

That’s a good problem to have, congrats. You should put yourself on the waiting list for some abalone from Unique.

Dang that's a nice size of PC Superman. Did you get it at CFM?
No I got it from a place called Triton Corals Santa Barbara. Great customer service. I want to make it out and check the place out in person cause these things look super healthy even after shipping.

Nice score! That grannie looks super nice, can't wait until it gets bigger, they look even better then. I've heard of Triton Corals, but have never made the trip. That's on my to do list.
