My Tank Build
Finally did a water test this morning. Well something to high and others to low. Let’s start with the highs. Alk 11.2dkh, cal 520ppm, and mag 1540ppm. So I raised the pH in the cal reactor. I had it set to in between 6.80-6.90. I turned it to 6.90-7.00. I test alk in a week to see what happens.
Now the lows, no3 was undetectable and po4 0.02. So I turned off skimmer and dosed 20 ml of potassium nitrate and 10ml of of flourish phos.
I also added some dry rock and added some depth to the rock work. I had so much open space from the front glass to the rocks on the right side. So I filled in some of that openness. With also added more sleeping spots for the fish.

Got a clown tank

Got a mask as well

Taking tank completely apart or just running a new inner seam?

Ok not say this is your issue but let’s just say someone had a tank that blow a seam. I personally would tear the tank apart completely apart and resilicone the whole tank. Not just resilicone that one pain. The reason is that new silicone won’t bond to cured silicone. So in the corners where cured silicone is that will be a point of weakness.

So here’s the advice I can offer. Clean all points of contact very well (do be afraid to use a shit load of paper towels). Do injection seam type of siliconing. Use tip ties or tooth pics as your spacers. Preassemble tank before siliconing, use painters tape to hold together, with a lot of pieces. Now then siliconing have at least one friend that’s ether knows how to use a caulking gun or know how to do silicone cleanup work. Cause if it’s a large tank a single person can’t do both jobs. If you can get 2 friends that would be better.

I’d be willing to help. I got pretty good a cleaning up seams.

Thanks! I figured I would have to take it completely apart, because there’s no way I would trust a patch job. I would probably acetone the crap out of the edges to clear all of the old silicone, plus a box of fresh razors. I probably won’t have time until the holidays, too busy with work, unless we strike? But that’s another story. Thanks for the solid advice!

I finally got around to plumbing the frag tank to the main system today. Here’s the old way

Here’s now

It’s dead silent.

Now I’ll really see how MH and LEDs do side by side.
Picked up a copperband and it’s in QT currently.
