This is going to be awesome!!

I don’t think you’ll spend much time looking at the TV when this is grown in.

Thanks man.
Yeah sitting there I was thinking it’ll block the view of the tv from there but I ain’t gonna be looking at that anyway.

Yeah I'm super excited about that part of it, a recliner too ahhhh. I'm going to have trouble getting anything done though.

I love top down viewing as well so I specifically had this one built the same as my current 75g as that's about perfect for me standing. I had to sacrifice a little in height under the tank but that's not too big of a deal for me. Still dreaming of plumbing everything to my side yard walkway. Would be such a quiet system and all the dirty, smelly stuff would be taken care of outside the house.
Recliner for reef viewing. It’s my small dream. Some day I’ll have the setup. I love top down view as well.Looking forward to more pics once the tank arrives.

I’ll let you know if it’s as good as it seems in theory. Might just be getting blinded lol. Can’t beat top down, one of my favorite aspects of my 75

As in having your sump out there, or just a drain from the tank to the side yard that you could drain water change water and a skimmer to?

I picked my large tank location based on how easy it was to get to the house drain to make maintenance easier. I haven't seen people with outdoor sumps before, if that is what you are thinking of I would love to hear more about it.

Outdoor sump and sump based equipment is what I was thinking about. I'm just not sure how practical it would be to try and insulate it from both temperature and critters. We have an insane black widow population at this place. It would be the perfect area though, maybe gets an hour of sunlight but then is shaded the rest of the day. It's also all cement over there. It has drains but those are rain run off to the gutter so I wouldn't want to be sending my tank water down there.

This tank will be near a window so if I do need to drain/or water change every once in a while that won't be too hard if the sump stays inside. I dont do regular water changes, specially on a larger tank. I feel the bigger the tank the more programs like reef moonshiner trace element programs start to pay for themselves in salt costs.

I feel like I saw someone around here with an outdoor frag section and sump. I think Jimmy had his outside too, I'll have to figure out how to hit him up and see what he did to insulated it and if it was worth the effort. With a herbie I'd imagine it would be close to dead quite though. That'd be nice.

If I decide to do it this would be the area I’d have to work with. It about 5’ wide and I could go 24-30 deep with a cabinet. I’d probably make it 7’ tall so I could penetrate for lighting in the floating canopy as well. That would keep just about all my heat generating equipment outdoors and there would be no wires visible. Mh ballasts apex ect would all go out there and I would just have the apex display indoors for control, or use fusion.

Looks like they are shooting for Friday but that's pending the material for the stand coming in. So we will see. But I did get a picture of the tank and un-coated stand today

I like the fact that it looks like it could be 80g :) I'm sure it'll be a wake up call when it actually gets here.

I’m going to have to go around the backside of my house. So I’m thinking of building a floor dolly with some inflatable knobbie casters to get through my grass. That way I’m though my slider and it’s one lift up onto the stand.

I suggest Smitie do a live video of the build;) install a camera and broadcast it 24/7 sort of like a reality tv show. Then have commercials and use revenue to pay for tank ;)

Oh that would be straight up comedy I'm sure, ha! I feel like it'd be setting me up for some bad reef karma. "Alright guys, you've seen all the hard work now ITS TIME TO FILL HER UPPPPPPOP!"
