I've got one of those water dispensing shops right by my house. Thirty cents a gallon. The guy said it's RO water, is this ok to use? I was too impatient to fill up my new tank and having to wait for my ro unit at home to fill up.

you can use it if you don't have an ro/di system... I used to use those but the water is not really clean because they don't change their filters often... you will get all sorts of algae in your tank
If you are going to use that water, invest in a 20 dollar handheld TDS meter so you can see how dirty the water really is. Most people want ZERO TDS, but you should be OK if that water is say less than 15, which is still not good but will get you by.
im not sure but i thought it said it does on the side of the vending machine, ill have to look again. i have been using it for a long time with no problems so far though. like the entire time iv been in reefing except the times i get free water from my buddy with ro system.

It doesn't necessarily, my understanding is that it does the final polishing of the water and removes the last of the solids. I think without it you will just find a higher TDS in the RO water. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Guys, thanks for the response. The shop owner actually told me TDS is at 3. There's another option though, a car detailing shop by me also sells RO water, and it's only 5 cents per gallon, it's for washing cars and leaving them spot free.
