First u need to have an Apple device. Up date the app. Then start the app up. That was it for me. I'm not clear if it only works with the reeflink or not. I do believe it does tho. Because the programming is stored in the cloud from my understanding.
U do need to be standing in front of the vortech to update it tho. U have to unplug the power to start the update proses.

Ecotech has plans to release there own brand of full reef controller. If I'm thinking right (but I'm not sleep deprived) it will be wireless. I bet the power supplies will only have a power source wire. No cat9 or phone jack bs.
