So, after having the apex up and running for over 6 months, finally got off my a$$ and got it "online".

I had asked Omar about it from time to time, but he advised me that it's cake with Fusion now, and i should just do that.

I read the instructions, and realized that i'd need a long cat-5 cable, so i ordered one off amazon, and got down to it yesterday.

Initial part went ok. the firmware updater recognized the apex immediately, and I started the upload. the communication seemed really spotty during upload, and would lose packets 2-3x before it got through, eventually, it uploaded it all, and said was successful.

then I tried to update the webpage, and that's when it went to the crapper.

the whole thing froze, and the apex went dark (display module).

the apex solution bulletin was no help, since the loader kept spitting out a check-sum error, and wouldn't even get to the part that times out.

so, for people who may experience this in the future, here's the solution (on a PC).

you have to delete the registry entry for the neptune update software, because it's storing corrupted status. simply deleting the program and re-extracting it won't work.

search for "apex" and "neptune" in regedit, and delete those.

after i did that, reflashing went smoothly, as well as the update.. :)

Good to hear you worked out the kinks. How do you like Fusion? At first, I wasn't too thrilled with it, but now that I used it more and got my wxm module, I'm really loving the graph/plot interface and the actual graphs are way better than the last version. It gives a whole lot more useful data. The network setup was a breeze and I'm glad I didn't have to go through setting it up. I still resent the fact that when I access the fusion site on my phone, I have to reenter my username and password.

well, i never had the other version (mobile app version), so i can't really compare, but it seems really smooth and easy to use. I even modified my frag tank's MH timing on the phone this morning on my phone through the web page.. :)

that's odd. i have it saving my password, and haven't had to re-enter the PW since the first time.

Odd. For me, it happens both in Chrome on my desktop and Chrome on my phone. No idea why and it doesn't automatically autofill my password either. Guess it's a browser issue on my end.

I love fusion. Weird that u had problems updating. I just updated mine, and 2 other apexs in the last months or two. Had zero issues. I was actually surprised how easy it was. Once u do it once, it's a breeze.

As far as updating my apex, it was too far from my router/ethernet port to do it, so I used a short ethernet cable to connect my apex and my laptop together and updated it that way. So you don't need a long cable if you need to have a hard wired connection.

Mine just says 504 error code. Contacted the domain and never got a response =[
Got this from the Neptune forum
If you are able to access Apex Fusion, but find that you can't control anything, update your outlets/configuration, or are receive a 502 or 504 error, then you likely need to enable Fusion Control:

Via your web interface go to configuration> Network Configuration> Apex Fusion Control Enabled> restart your controller
Via your display screen: system> netsetup> Apex Fusion Setup> Server: ON > Control On> restart your controller

yeah, Omar had one too, but it was like a whooping 7 bucks from amazon and gets to my door in 2 days, so i just get a 100 footer.. :p
U don't need to connect your apex directly to your router. All u have to do is download the update to your laptop and then plug the apex directly into your laptop. It's super easy. And the apex guide walks you through how to do it. I did it that way with 3 different apexs with zero problems.

yeah, it's really lame that you have to learn about that through their TROUBLESHOOTING section, and only as a last resort.

i read just the parts about how to update, and didn't come across the direct connect option until AFTER it was dead - at which point, the display module was blacked out, and i couldn't use the direct connection option anymore.

Not true. Connect the apex to your laptop, and start the update. Let it time out a couple times, and unplug the power from your apex. Then plug the apex back in. This will automatically put the apex into boot loader mode. (Or something like that). I actually had to do this on the second apex I updated, and it worked exactly like it was supposed to. He was trying to update it himself, and it froze on him. Check the apex guide, It really explains everything really well. I was reading all over the net trying to figure out how to unfreeze it. Then I read a little farther down in the apex guide and boom, there it was right there in front of me. I followed the directions and the apex updated and worked fine.

Good luck

mine was stuck on the boot loader, which the apex forum tells you to use step 4 (the "let it time out" approach).

the problem was, mine was receiving a check-sum error, stack can no be lower than zero, etc, and the APEX name was renamed to some *$^&%*(&^^)(*! symbol name. it was f'd.

mine was actually corrupted and I had to delete the registry to start again.
