My pump doesn't say psk 1000... sure its the same pump?

Cory can you ask Chad?
Cody your pump is defiantly different. You also need to have the correct needle wheels for the pump you are using. I think Anton recommends going with the new psk1000. If you look at my pump vs Jesses the housing and stickers are different, and even both of ours are different than yours. I'm going to have to talk with chad about this. Also the 840 I have has the double bubble plate which these previously did not have. Can you both post pictures of your bubble plates? This can help me out as I can have chad ask Anton if the new psk1000 would be optimal for your skimmers if they are an older version than mine

Cory
Is your skimmer a 840 or 1050?? On the ATB website the 840 still have one plate and I notice the price is lower than when I purchase my skimmer. I have the 840 V1.5

So to give you guys an update. I got another PSK1000 pump from a buddy and my skimmer is back to being silent. I swap the impeller from the 2 pumps and found the impeller on my old pump had a hairline crack on the shaft. Hope this new pump doesn't go through impellers like the old one.

Thanks for all you guys help and advice. Chad from ATB is awesome and super cool to work with. Now I have to see why this sucker overflow all the time. It's in 8" of water. Hopefully it the new tank or break in of the new pumps.

so what was the outcome on this thread???..what did you buy after all to fix the problem? Asking because my pump will only hum when I plug it in but doesn't actually work. Do I need a new pump or new skimmer altogether as I didn't quite understand what Cory said about the skimmers having to work directly with the specified pump it was designed for.

Jesse I think they are tuned down due to different impellers used. I could be wrong but that's why they run at lower wattages. Maybe someone else can explain it better

Nah, not going back to bk...sticking with atb, just not sure if I want to replace pump or get the 840 v3 or the 1040 or the elegance pro 200.
