Wonder if that was turned up all the way or not? I definitely want to try one but its pretty brutal looking flow at the top... I can imagine salt creep after prolonged use at the other end of the tank with the amount of flow I'm seeing.

I think you can set it lower and avoid having the wave effect up top

I found the link off another forum. he said the flow was only at 20 or 30% strength vs 60% vortech power.

My question is achilles tang: mine likes to ride the flow from the vortechs. If you come by you can see it just hang out in front of any of the vortechs. How does this affect the livestock that's used to random flow?

Wow look at all these wanters.

They are very powerful pumps. The middle size model does a pretty decent job on my 300

Do you know when these become available? I seen a different video from a show that shows it from an empty tank using small water balloons. Pretty impressive.

The 50w riptide is said to be released to the public around the end of this month. But there is still no release date from maxspect. I talked to Lindsey at coralvue today and asked if she had heard anything about the release. Still not much to offer. She did say that maxspect hopes to have the large model out for sale by Christmas and the small version out by February 2015.
I was told that the riptide is in very high demand. They've had a pre order going on for the last few months. So if u haven't preorder yours already u might b waiting to get a riptide.

People actually put money down, or a credit card on file to pay when they are released? Or just filled out the form with email/address info to be notified when it happens? I filled out that form

I was hoping marinedepot/brs/etc would come out with preorders soon like they did for the neptune doser. i just want a riptide. lol
