So the thought has really been crossing my mind lately!! I hate to have to sell off my fish but time is very short lately and my tank seems to be the one taking a hit as a result. Haven't done a water change in about 2 months now, I'm afraid to even check parameters. Afraid to get home one of these days and find my livestock upside down! I know I'll regret it after a few weeks if I go thru with it, What to do.. What to do....

Do a water change and clean your tank. Maybe a clean tank will help you to decide what to do with it.

I work about 65-70 hours a week, it's a bit tough to make time for it. One day to make wife, daughter and fish happy is not enough lol

could you hire someone to do monthly water changes?
The way Im starting to look at it is if I can't keep up with it then y have it? Then it'll become a big empty space!! I'm kind of trying to feel it out and see if my fish have enough potential to sell fast then I may consider doing it.

Just check your water.. It only takes 20 mins max lol
I just can't keep up with it dude!! Honestly the only thing I really been doing almost the last 2 months is feeding the fish. Clean the skimmer once a week at best, think I been running rje same sock for 2 weeks now. Well all know that this stuff goes beyond a simple 20min. I'm gone about 16 hours a day during the week so it makes it very difficult to do snything to it, usually too tired and just keep offsetting maintenance

Spread out the work? Do just one thing a day. I'm doing it this way. During the week I clean the glass, then clean the skimmer, etc.. By the weekend all I have to do is a WC. But then I'm only doing 5 gallons, and I make SW once a month only (about 20 gallons).

Come on Miguel, I was recently at your place and saw your fish tank. You loved your fish and even told that you wouldn't want to sell them. Like you said earlier, you would sell it than regret it a week later. I'm sure a fellow reefer would be willing to come out and lend a hand.

Yea I know, but I don't want to kill them either! I just changed my filter sock & cleaned out my skimmer. Water was overflowing sock & skimmer cup was full to the rim, carelessness!! It's just becoming to difficult to stay on top of it. Work is picking up which means more neglection!!
BeanMachine, I'll b setting up my 28jbj so technically I won't be leaving the hobby, just downgrading to something a lot more manageable

start with wife and daughter, your family is more important. I usually tend to my tank after everyone goes to bed.

Might be bad advice here....

Keep it easy and cut corners lol When you complete a water change don't try and siphon off all the bad, just replace the water. do small 5g water changes once a week. it makes it real easy to just do 5g instead of 15-20g. Feed very lightly, once every other day wont hurt them. Empty the skimmer cup, don't scrub the cup, just pour out the bad. Feed pellets, its easier to just throw in dry food and feed frozen on those days you have the time.

Well today I got a rude awakening!! Got home and my purple tang has a bit of ick, nothing serious. I immediately put garlic I'm their food and just went with a 30g water change this time. :suspicious: gotta watch them carefully! Everyone else looks good
