I currently work part time at my local fish store. Every week we get a new shipment of corals and one of the recent shipments had some interesting hitchhikers. After i few hours passed and the new corals adjusted to the tank, I got bored and started investigating the corals for anything unusual. I came across 2 very small dots of glowing orange attached to a rock with a colony of green clove polyps we just received in our shipment. Upon looking closer, i noticed they were micro zoanthids!

The bright glowing orange that i noticed was actual the zoa closed up, so i couldnt tell what colors they were. I asked my boss if i could take them home and he let me.
A few days later, one polyp melted but the other polyp made it.

Its been almost a month now and its finally starting to color up! Unfortunatly i cant capture the colors on my iphone. But believe me, i dont think ive seen these before. From what i can see right now, it looks like the polish prince zoanthid from paradise corals except gold!

I will keep updated this thread bi weekly to show the progression of the zoanthid. Right now its about the size of a b b gun bullet when fully opened. I just went to walmart just now to buy me a magnifying glass to get a closer look at it.... LOL

Im having a hard time posting pics from my phone right now. I'll try again tomorrow. Says something about a domain error???

But what i can see in person is it has alternating skirts, an aqua marine colored mouth with gold streaks starting from the outter edge of the mouth to the skirts.

This is the best shot i can get of the pattern/color, taken with the moonlights on. Cant wait to see this fully colored. Hopefully this single polyp grows into a nice mini colony

The colors dont really show up with the whites on yet especially taking the pics through my iphone, it catches the colors with the blue lights as far as right now. Only in person you can see how this zoa truely is unique in color/pattern. I'll keep updating the thread as the zoa grows and the colors develop with time.

You're describing flaming moe's... I named them like 8 years ago, but my colony got zoa pox and died forever... Before I could frag them... Pretty awesome if they're back...
