Hey everyone! I finally got settled in here in Encino and i am planning on ordering a new tank tomorrow! But i want to try something different. So, i was hoping to hear everyone's favorite aquascape, or how they would scape a 40 gallon! Dimensions will be 42x18x12, if anyone can explain how to upload pics, i'll post my old scape. Best idea will be the scape! All rock ideas are welcome as well! (Tonga, purple reef, base, ect.) Let the ideas begin!!!

Edit: While i'm at this, i am also welcoming everyones favorite type of sand! So, what's your favorite sand and why, and favorite scape and why?

Fiji pink sand. And an open arch rock scape is best. Keep the rocks decently spread out for coral placements, high and low. It also gives fish a nice natural feel. They can also escape the sight of other fish which helps reduce stress..

This is my tank when I first started this build. I love my rock scape and Fiji pink sand. I used dry rock, a mix of brs reef saver and pukani.

i'm going to do lots of open space on my next setup... right now i have a ton of open space... i think it makes it look like more tranquil... especially with barebottom...

things that i keep in mind when i do any aqua scape is, lots of room to place corals and lots of room for fish to swim don't use sand bed at the moment but in case i decide to go with sand bed will be Tropic Eden reef flakes, very white sand, clean and heavy

Your scape is freakin sweet!!! I want mine to look something like that, i love the open look that tonga provides!! Also, do you spearfish? I am getting the rest of my equipment sometime this week, would love a few pointers!

I personally like tall pillars that cascade for maximum coral placement. Still working on my rock as the 3 pillar is not what I want it to be. Open space on the sand is ideal but my large clams take up all the space

I guess the reason i'm not huge into that kind of scape is because i'm not really a big coral person. I like the minimalistic look because it feels tranquil and calming, not too too much going on. I'll probably do a nem, and some flowing corals and that'll be all really
