I prefer TMP over any other salt. When I was doing the tank maintenance thing a few years ago, we would use cheaper salts and it was apparent they weren't mixed right. They would have pieces of blocks of what we thought were trace elements, they would mix up grey or grey when mixing, or the consistency would be either super grainy or super fine. Granted, that was cheap salt but, I think good H2o and good salt are a good start at any reef.

I changed salts and seen the results switching from io to tmp didnt change anything as far as intervals on changing water just switched salts and boom all the sudden im getting color! I agree i could use the regular tm the only diff is lower alk and i would have to dose more thats it

This post made me want to try tmp. Instead of just using tmp, i mixed the tmp with 2 bags of IO. Ive been getting good results from IO but some of my sps corals, especially mymarocultured and vivid rainbow delight has barely any color. Tonight will be my first water change using this salt mix i made. I'll see how it does in a months time. I bought the 156g bag of tmp, and 2 50g bags of io and mixed it all together in a rubbermaid bin.
