I'm wondering what your favorite media reactor in terms of ease of use and quick change out of the media. Out of all the things in our hobby, one of the things I dislike doing the most is switching out the media in my reactors. I'm currently using TLF media reactors of various sizes and I haven't really explored this much beyond an aquamaxx reactor.

I'm looking for ease of use above all else. What are you using? What do you like about it?

Home sick you punk, full day to mess with the tank and the best I could do was media reactors. Something I haven't changed since I started reefing, there has to be something better than TLF out there, no?

I like it, but rinsing media (rowa) still sucks.
I feel you, one of the reasons I'm asking. There has to be a better way all around.

aquamax reactor been good to me other than the little thrumb screws awesome
The issue I see with all reactors of this style is that there is no innovation in terms of what needs to happen to take the media out, rinse, put fresh media in. On this type of reactor you're looking for materials used, quality of the craftsmanship, and perhaps capacity. Nothing exciting, same old stuff different variation of the same thing. Still a pain to replace as any other reactor, with very few differences.

The Avast unit is more along the lines of the innovation I'm talking about and looking for. Super quick, easy changes. BRS looks like the midpoint between classic reactors and the Avast unit. I can see how it would be easier to unscrew and go.

Doesn't the water then flow around the bag (least resistance) rather than through it. And then do you throw away the bag with gfo when done or do you try and remove it from the bag in order to reuse bag?

I didn't understand paper in the pipe, need visuals.

I hate rinsing media and replacing it. Was hopeful of the avast but not hearing any easier ways of rinsing GFO with that device either.
