This is the first time I'm using a heater when curing my rock. I don't know if everyone does this but I never did in the past. I have read that the warmer water helps the bacteria spread faster. We will see also added a bacteria booster that will speed up the process a bit

Filter system:
I will be running a 4 inch sock, the little NAC3.5 skimmer(may go to larger one later but we shall see how it goes),refugium, TLF 150 with chemipure blue or just a mix of carbon and GFO( haven't decided yet). I may also add an algae scrubber that I can put in the stand but not in the sump. One of the box all In one scrubbers. Or maybe an upflow algae scrubber they don't take up much room in the sump. I'm happy with everything on the tank now except for the size of the skimmer. It says it's rated up to 80 gallons but I don't put a lot of stock in that number. It is very small and most of my tanks always end up with a pretty heavy bio load. So that might be my next upgrade but I need something with a pretty small footprint. My ATO should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to get it up and running

Two greatest things in the world when doing PVC plumbing: unions and pic pipe cutter. At first I was trying to cut the PVC with a hacksaw, big time pain the cutter made perfect cuts nice and clean. The unions make disassembly very easy and allow you to angle the elbows in different directions. There are a must for tank plumbing. On my other tank u always used the clear tubes with barb connectors, this was the first time I have done it in PVC. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and looks way cleaner. From now on I will do all my tanks with PVC

If you're adding an algae scrubber plus the sock you should be fine on the skimmer. My biggest mistake was too big of a skimmer and the water was too clean. Hated turning it on and off to keep the corals happy.

there have been many others I haven't put on here. My first was a 40 gallon breeder with no sump, hang on back skimmer and canister filter. Only had it for about two months then I had to upgrade. This tank is being setup because my wife wanted a fish tank in the living room and I said if we're going to have a fish tank might as well do a reef tank. The hardest part of this build is talking my wife out of putting a sunken ship or a little sign that says no fishing. She also wants the treasure chest that bubbles and opens up. But she is learning a lot and may become a reefer in the future

not sure how heavy my bio load will be yet. That's going to be the biggest factor. Normally I always go a step up in size on my skimmers

Tested out my ATO in some containers and it worked great. Now I'm just waiting on marine depot to get me my return pump. I figured when I ordered it from them. As it turns out they had to send it from the east coast so now I play the waiting game.

The pump looks really nice I love Tunze stuff. Gonna try out microbacter 7 and see how it does for starting the bacteria cycle

It's the little things. Look how long the little feet suction cups are to keep the noise down
