So I've tried IO reef crystals and Red Sea Coral Pro so far. I don't think I would go back to IO unless there was another super slick sale on them.

I like red sea because it mixes in 15 minutes at room temperatures. Anyone have any recommendation on any other mixes that also mix quickly?

Most mix pretty quickly but you typically need at least an hour, preferably more to allow for proper aeration. Newly mixed salt can be caustic in general so depending on what % you're changing you're probably best letting it mix for a while.

I've used IO, IO Reef Crystals and Oceanic...haven't had an issue with any of those.

I like IO. All my coral looked great with it. I just don't like the 11dkh alk, so I'm using Red Sea regular now.

Dang after looking at Kent Marine Salt and h2o they recommend long mixes.

IO is cheaper but needed long mix times for me...sometimes with a heater too. While red sea recommends 1/2 hr to 1 hr mix.

all you guys switching salts, stressing the corals while you do it.. then blaming the salt...??? LOL... a reef needs stability... buy one salt and stick to it... people that change salts all the time crash all the time...

I change salt once a week. I like to stay on my toes.

I use Kent and it takes me about ~15min to mix cleanly... but then again, I make 4gal of w/c using an eheim 2000+

+1 on D-D salt though, it mixes super fast imo

I should stop assuming. I'll give reef crystals a shot. Ordering on Amazon though hopefully there's an easy way to check expiration date. I've had old crusty salt in the past and it never dissolves completely.
