I added Siporax a few months ago. My nitrates have been between 5-10 ppm checked routinely for a long time. A couple weeks ago, the siporax kicked in and nitrates dropped to .25 ppm checked with Red Sea pro and confirmed by salifert. I have a 180 tank with lots of fish 15-20 ( I haven't counted in a long time) and sps dominant. I feed thee times a day: 1 x flakes, 1 x pellets and 1 x Frozen LRS fish frenzy. I just started adding nitrates: kno3 and glutamic acid and l-aspartic acid. I just managed to raise nitrates to .75 ppm and aiming for 2-5 ppm ultimately. In terms of other nitrate removal methods, I have a protein skimmer 24/7 and chaeto in a refugium.
In terms of complete disclosure, unrelated to my nutrient level, I am currently (today) removing some fish: coral nippers, a file fish, majestic angel, emperor angel and plan to remove magnificent fox face, yellow tang, yellow bellied regal and a powder blue tang. I will then add a baby yellow and powder blue and Achilles tang. I think the tangs observed the Angels to discover this intolerable habit. I am ultimately more interested in polyp extension than a menagerie of beautiful angels
Anyone have experience to share on Siporax
