1/2" or 3/4" Glass Thickness- Which would you choose?

You going with the stainless steel brace around the tank?
Yes, top and bottom.

I think there are thin pieces of steel that go across the width of the tank, but not a wide piece of glass like standard tanks. I'm waiting on some info from them.

24" is already too tall IMO. Maintenance in the middle of the tank will be even more of a hassle if you go taller.
Nah I'm good with it. Big boy tank less than 24" tall is not the way I want to go. Whether I go 24" or 27" or 20", the 36" Width will be the challenging aspect of the maintenance.

I think you want me to get a shallow acrylic frag tank! :D

LOL< no shallow frag tank! I'm 18" tall 24" deep and I really like it. We're gonna see pictures of you suspended from the ceiling over the tank mission impossible style to do your rockwork!
