What i do is fill the reactor with the amount of phosban needed (un-rinsed straight from packaging). Then have a 5 gal bucket of RO/DI water and pump clean water through the reactor until the water is clear, usally about 3gallons. Then hook the reactor to the sump.

Also recommend 4 stage BRS with dual membrane, makes water way faster than single membrane

i would start slow, my reactor usually is running at 25% with GFO. In the past i was in a hurry to remove phosphates and filled up 60% of the reactor and that messed up my tank pretty good.
