I’ve been on the hunt for a peninsula tank for about a year and planning to upgrade. Just picked up the tank and stand. Tank is 48x24x18.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good sump/skimmer? I want the sump to have a refugium section. I think I want to do a calcium reactor also. The PVC/acrylic sumps are out of my budget.

Also looking for any other equipment recommendations for this size tank. I am mostly starting from scratch but have the lights.

Those are cool dimensions. I'd go with as large of a sump as you can fit. I regretted going smaller on mine. Maybe one of those 39 sapphire sumps? Or hit up advanced acrylics, their acrylic sumps are cheaper than pvc by far.

I just bump up skimmer sizes. I have a reef octopus 150 int elite. The DC pump controllable pump type. Probably be perfect. I just gotta clean it and inspect it so I havent posted it yet. $180

sweet dimensions!

i just got a sump from someone on here. check offerup/craigslist too, there were a lot of options if you're willing to drive a bit. although in your case you probably won't have to drive as far as i did

I wanted the 7 inch filter sock holders but this one was a good price and I don't plan on running socks that much. I want to use a roller

I also ordered a jebao DCT-12000 for the return

I’ve got a Brand new unused KLIR DI-4 if you’re gonna use a drop in roller instead of socks.

Just get a couple diverted caps for those extra sock holes.

PM me if interested.

I finished plumbing and water testing a few weeks back. It’s been running with water for about two weeks now and just hung the lights last week. Ended up with two Kessil a360x instead of the hydras I have. Got some live rock from seaside tropical and ceramic structures from west mariculture.

I started the cycle with the brightwell kit two weeks ago

Still waiting for the cycle to complete and adding more lattice/matrix and bacteria as needed.

Also on the lookout for a quiet skimmer and some wavemakers. Thinking of going with mp40.

That is a sweet build!

Where did you get your rock work from or did you make it?

Nice set up!

I'm also working on a peninsula build... although, I pretty much have everything BUT the tank at the moment. Suppose to come by the end of the month, but we'll see.

Tank looks awesome. I wish I had found Westmariculture before I set up my peninsula. May be one of their large structures if I ever re so my aquascape.

Thanks, I got it from west mariculture. There are a few others who make similar structures but they had the most stock and no wait list. The price is also pretty good in comparison to others.

That shallow reef tank is beautiful. I wish I had space for a 48x24 tank. The depth alone is sweet.

I look forward to your tanks progress.
