For the people that run calcium reactors on a Paristalic dosing pump what flow rate or roughly what rate do you run the flow at?

I just got a 50lm/min pump and am wondering if it’s enough effluent for my system. I know I can run the pH lower to make the effluent saturated. But I don’t want to turn the media to much. I remember back in the days people would say “how many drips a min are you running your effluent” but I was never fond of the drip rate method. I always ran my cal reactors at a beaded stream. This was to eliminate clogging tho. So maybe I’ll try the 50ml/min pump at see what happens. But I’d still like to know what people think is a proper effluent flow rate

It all depends on the media I think. When I ran ARM I kept my ph around 7 and my effluent at 50ml/ min to start and then adjust accordingly. When I switched to Reborn, the suggested ph was between 6.5 and 6.8. I started with 6.6 and I found that Running that ph, I had to run my effluent between 1ml/ min and 3ml/ min. Of course, I was down to just a few surviving sps at this point so my demand was low.

Now that you cannot get Reborn, I switched back to ARM and ran the reactor like I did with the Reborn and it destroyed the media and calcified the pump.

Mike taught me how to set up a calcium reactor manually before he taught me how to use a ph probe. That was one of the best things in this hobby

I thought the same before I set up my kamoer pump to feed my calcium reactor. I'd d a stream and a higher ph value in the reactor. But with the pump on my 180g I'm running 6.6 @ 8 ml a minute with rebourne media. i set the pump to pull through the reactor and its been rock solid

When I was running a CaRx, I was at 35mls / minute with a reactor ph of 6.7 using reborn. This kept up with my demands on my SPS tank.

I have reborn at 6.4 when low on media and 6.6 when full of reborn media here’s a graph trend after I top off my media
